Materials and Methods

Thirteen exotic potato varieties were evaluated at the Agricultural Research Station, Seetha Eliya during yala seson of 2019 (Table 2.) Statistical design was RCBD with three replicates. Agronomic practices and pest and disease control measures were carried out according to the recommendation of the Department of Agriculture. Yield and other agronomic data were measured. Data were analysed using R software.

Results

Total yield of the potatoes were not significantly different with the check variety Granola (Table 1). The greater amount of small tubers were found in the Granola variety (25. t/ha) followed by Julinka and YP-10-182 (18. t/ha and 1.6 t/ha respectively. The lowest amount of small tubers was observed in the YP-10-182 variety (0.6 t/ha). Medium size tubers were grater in YP-11-168 followed by YP-10-182, Julinka, Granola and Kelly.  Yields of the large size tuber were not significantly different with the standard variety Granola.
